What is each division's best-combined roster? Part 1–6:Atlantic.
Usually, divisions clash for their division title and bragging rights in local areas. However, what if the best of the best from the five teams in each division combined to compete with the others (excluding players with no minutes this season). Here is my best 14 man roster from the Atlantic division:
Point Guard-James Harden
Harden is the best point guard in the division, especially since Irving and Simmons are out. He now has pretty much no competition in this position in the division. Harden is one of the most versatile players in the NBA as he can switch from a pure scorer in one game to the main playmaker in the next.
Shooting Guard-Jaylen Brown
It is a tight decision between Brown and VanVleet but in the end, Brown is an All-Star and averages more points per game this season. He also adds more height than FVV.
Small Forward-Jayson Tatum
Tatum easily makes this spot, only opposed by Pascal Siakam but Tatum is a much better player in almost every way. One of the better young players in the league, Tatum is a sure superstar for the future.
Power Forward-Kevin Durant
Durant, like his Nets teammate Harden, has no problem in making this starting five. The scoring on this team is immaculate and as the most skilled scorer of all time, KD continues the pattern of easy buckets in this team.
Center-Joel Embiid
The last player on the starting five is Embiid. Embiid is one of the best centers in the league and has been a strong MVP candidate in the past few years. He also brings some much-needed defense to this starting 5 and he makes the spacing on this team impeccable.
BENCH:
6-Fred VanVleet
Since the departure of Kawhi, VanVleet has stepped up and improved his numbers. He has focused on becoming one of the most consistent shooters in the league whilst taking on a playmaking role ever since Lowry left.
7–Julius Randle
Last season’s MIP has struggled this year but is still averaging a double-double (19.6 ppg and 10.1 rpg). The Knicks are nowhere near the success they achieved last year but with a lot left in the season, it might be a last-minute play-in win that gets Randle and the Knicks into the Playoffs.
8-Pascal Siakam
Pascal has recently become underrated in the league as he has been consistently been averaging 20 points since 2019. He gets trolled a lot online for his playstyle but it has become very efficient for him and has led to him becoming a very reliable scorer.
9-Tobias Harris
Tobias has taken on a big role since Simmons has been MIA. His playmaking stats have gone up and his defense has improved as he is 14th in the league for defensive rating (higher than Butler and Adebayo).
10-Marcus Smart
Smart has become renowned for his defense as a short guard through his switching and ability to strip the opposition's best player of the ball. He also averages a helpful 11.5 ppg and has become a reliable playmaker.
11-RJ Barrett
RJ has rapidly become one of the most underrated players in the league. Only in his 3rd season, he has proven to be one of the Knicks’ best defenders and can get important buckets. He is averaging 15.7 points this season along with 5.6 rebounds. He was a vital part of the Knicks' resurgence last season.
12-OG Anunoby
Similar to VanVleet, OG has flourished ever since the departure of Kawhi as it meant he has had to take on a bigger role (he is averaging 15.8 more minutes since the championship season).
13-Patty Mills
Mills has become one of the most efficient 3 point shooters in the league. Playing with KD, Kyrie, Harden, and Joe Harris has helped him make the change in his game to become a stronger shooter as his 3 point percentage is gradually improving.
14-Tyrese Maxey
Maxey did not have the most stunning rookie season but now that Simmons is out and he has adapted to the point guard position, he has doubled in almost all his stats and is one of the most exciting prospects in the league.
