The Brooklyn Nets have a problem
The Brooklyn Nets have just pulled off one the biggest trades in NBA history and now have the best big three since the Warriors. However, the biggest difference between that Warriors team and this Nets team is the depth. The Warriors had Draymond, Iguodala, Cousins etc… The Nets have just traded their depth and youth. Three of the best scorers in the leagues on one team and that’s it. This might not sound that bad but the problem is there are no high level defenders or high level playmakers in the team. This means that having to share the ball between 3 All Stars becomes difficult and could impact their stats and performances. So, these are 3 options that can improve the Nets and help them win the championship.
Option 1-Keep the team as it is
The amount of basketball IQ on the court and in the staff for the Nets is incredible. This means that I do not doubt that the Nets could overcome their problem by pushing on and improving with the team they have now. The injury of Spencer Dinwiddie has hurt this team but they still have a few players who can help the Nets throughout the season. I don’t think that this is the most effective option but if they want to keep this big three together, this is their best option.
Option 2-Trade Kyrie for another star
This team is missing many important things: defence, a specialist playmaker and youth. There are only a few players in the league who provide this but the main one would be Ben Simmons. This trade would be a difficult one considering the quality of Ben Simmons and the 76ers will want the best trade for him. Other rumours have been Russell Westbrook. This trade would bring the OKC trio back together but this time they are a lot more experienced and they are a lot better players. I think Westbrook is an easier trade than Simmons but not necessarily a better trade. Other rumours have been Zach Lavine and Colin Sexton (who has just recently destroyed this big three on their debut together!). They would only need to do a trade like this if they start losing bad or they are winning but not by a lot. Bringing in ne of these guys could allow the team to become well rounded and will benefit the two previous MVPs more.
Option 3-Trade Kyrie for better role players
Kyrie has been linked to the Magic for Mo Bamba, Evan Fournier, Aaron Gordon and picks. This trade would help make the Nets deeper but would not help the team with what they are missing. Another trade which had been rumoured is with the Pelicans in which the Nets would recieve Eric Bledsoe, Lonzo Ball, Nicolo Melli, Jaxson Hayes and picks. Personally, I think this trade heavily benefits the Nets as they get more defense and a quality playmaker in Lonzo. There are other trades that the Nets could do for role players but this is probably the one which benefits them the most.
