Just 2 years ago, Damian Lillard hit this iconic shot to send the Oklahoma City Thunder tumbling out of the playoffs:

You might be wondering how this shot saved Caris LeVert’s life. Here is how:

Thunder go into rebuild mode

After failing in the playoffs 3 years in a row, it was time to change it up. This meant the Thunder got rid of their two main stars, Paul George and Russell Westbrook. PG13 got traded to the Clippers for Shai, Gallinari, and a lot of picks. Westbrook, who had been with the Thunder for 11 years, was traded to the Rockets. Chris Paul and James Harden had been a bad dynamic for the Rockets so they decided to trade CP3 for Westbrook. The Rockets also sent a load of picks to the Thunder.

Harden fails in the playoffs again

Westbrook, Harden, and the rest of the Rockets crashed out of the playoffs in the second round after losing to the eventual champions, the Los Angeles Lakers. Westbrook gets traded to the Wizards for John Wall and a few picks.

The Nets form a super team

After Kevin Durant missed the entire 2020 season and Kyrie only played 20 games for the Nets, the pair finally debuted for Brooklyn. However, this was not enough and the Nets pulled off one of the biggest trades of the century. It was a big trade but I will just focus on the important parts. Harden was practically throwing games just so that he could get a trade. As a 3 time scoring champion, it wouldn't be easy to trade Harden and they would want a lot in return. On the 13th of January, it finally happened. Harden was traded to the Nets. The Rockets received Kurucs and a LOT of picks from the Nets. As a four-team trade, a lot was going on but the part that saved LeVert’s life was his trade from the Nets to the Pacers. How did this save his life?

In Levert’s medical with the Pacers, the doctors found out that LeVert had kidney cancer.
